Description Rare antique frontispiece of Thucydides' work about the Peloponnesian war, translated by Thomas Hobbes. Thucydides (471?-400? BC)
was an Athenian historian and author of the work. There were three later editions of the book since than(1629,1634 and 1648). This frontispiece was taken from the third edition (imprinted for Laurence Sadler at the signe of the Golden Lion, London,1648)
