| Description | Antique double hemisphere world map by
D. Stoopendaal based on Visscher's map, surrounded by allegorical
representations of the continents, published by Pieter Keur, Pieter
Rotterdam and Pieter Rotterdam de Jonge. California is depicted as an island
with a flat coast line. Australia is partially mapped and there is only
a hint of New Zealand. The northwest American and east Asian coastlines
are incomplete. Diagrams of the Copernican and Ptolemaic solar systems rest between the hemispheres |
| Location/Subject | Antique World Maps / double hemisphere |
| Condition | Very good condition: short right- and left margin (enough for framing). A restored split of the lowest part centre fold. The upper diagram has a V shape fold. These common minor imperfections do not disturb the beauty of this large 'Keur' map. |
