Description Antique print (copper engraving) of a half length portrait of Janus Dousa,  engraved by Cornelis Visscher (1629 -1658) printed in Haarlem in 1649. Janus Dousa  [Jan van der Does]  was commander during the siege of Leiden, Lord of Noordwyck (1545 -1604), Dutch statesman, historian, poet, philologist and the first Librarian of Leiden University Library  This portrait is number III of a series of 4 portraits engraved by Cornelis Visscher (1628 - 1658), who collaborated with the publisher Pieter Soutman in a series of four  portraits commemorating key figures in the siege story.
